(5th October 2019)

Last night, we had the September monthly tarot workshop (we'd had to change it from last week - so there will effectively be two workshops this month - the next one being on Friday, 25th October).

It was a fun evening, although it does obviously require a great deal of concentration for the students in terms of learning the card meanings, as well as trying to be relaxed enough to dip into one's intuition. There was real progress though last night and it's lovely to watch students' confidence starting to grow.

Last night we revisited the suit of Wands and how, in the Mythic Tarot, it uses the famous story of Jason and the Argonauts to help us focus on the creative, passionate and fiery suit of Wands. Wands is all about our creative imagination, our aspirations, our path in life.

Learning the story helps the students to get a handle on the divinatory meanings as well and as a teacher, you're always trying to find new ways of getting the meanings across (as a qualified teacher, it's fascinating how different people understand the concepts and meanings at different rates and in different ways).

Happily, there's a fantastic 1963 film of this story starring Todd Armstrong and Nancy Kovak. Make sure you watch this version as it's much better than the later version and can really help to acquaint yourself with the story of Jason and the Argonauts. Better still, the full film is available on Youtube here:!

Yes, I think having a tarot reading is sometimes like entering into a safe space similar to the one held by therapists. Isensitivity in the tarot reader could be disastrous for anyone who has allowed their vulnerability to peek through
